MEET THE AUTHOR
DARDEN NORTH

"What kind of a monster would murder his own sister?"

Voncelle Wallace, a recycled physician from a failed medical practice, lands employment at the Cummins-Bratton Surgical Center and continues to battle her demons of regret and might-have-beens.

Her husband, Chuck, is a high-dollar real estate negotiator for the international acquisition of the lucrative Belmont Clinic, a nearby exclusive, multiservice medical and cosmetic treatment practice. The Belmont family of physicians tends to put profits above ethics, and Chuck is not above cooking the books to his and their advantage.

But before the deal can be consummated, a rifle fired from a rooftop puts financial negotiations on hold.

Surgeon Diana Bratton's effort to avoid the Belmonts and simplify her life is derailed when new patient, Roy Garnett, arrives at her office. Roy confides that his mentally ill nephew has accused him of murdering his sister, the nephew's mother. Suddenly, Diana finds herself again drawn into a tangled web of deceit, high-stakes intrigue, and multiple homicide that this time could involve Voncelle Wallace.

ROOFTOP is the third suspense thriller in the Surgeon Diana Bratton Mysteries trilogy, which includes WIGGLE ROOM and THE 5 MANNERS OF DEATH.

306 pages. Hardback cover.

A native of the Mississippi Delta and a magma cum laude, Hall of Fame graduate of Ole Miss, North is a gynecologist and lives in Jackson with his wife Sally. He is the 2025-26 President of the South Central Obstetrical and Gynecological Society (SCOGS). Sally and Darden enjoy their family, traveling, and other outdoor activities.

HOLIDAY ART SHOW

ANGIE COLE
ART SHOW

MEET THE ARTIST
ANGIE COLE

Angie Cole is a professional artist whose figurative and landscape paintings delve into themes of social stratification and familial expectations she uncovers in her native area of the Mississippi Delta. The large-scale canvases show her work primarily in acrylic and mixed media. Her use of scale is used to publicly expose the plethora of factors involved in determining our identity.

In addition to her figurative work, Angie captures the beauty of Mississippi’s landscapes in her nature scenes, portraying the region’s vibrant flora, sweeping fields, and tranquil skies.

For this season, she will be showcasing her hand-painted framed ornaments—small, captivating landscapes inspired by the rich scenery of Mississippi. Each ornament features a unique scene, from cotton fields to serene sunsets, painted with vibrant colors and intricate detail, making them perfect for holiday decor or as cherished gifts. These ornaments are available in store only or by calling The Mississippi Gift Company at 1-800-467-7763.

Angie’s work has been exhibited across the South, and her pieces are available at The Mississippi Gift Company and in galleries throughout the Southeast.
