Mississippi’s Tragic Architectural Losses

Absolutely loved this labor of love from noted author Mary Carol Miller! Even if you’re not a history lover, I think you’ll be fascinated by her remarkably researched photographs and stories about the unique and often priceless treasures of our state that have been lost over time. As sad as it is to read about the floods and fires that have destroyed these architectural wonders, it’s even harder to read how many have been torn down for parking lots or warehouses or big box stores. Dr. Miller gives these homes and buildings one last hurrah. And hopefully this book might help awaken an awareness so that the next time one of these gifts from a bygone age is threatened, we’ll all think about what its loss will mean and find a way to help save it.
